Healthcare Quality Week (HQW) features the work of healthcare quality professionals and highlights their influence on improved patient care outcomes and healthcare delivery systems. National Association of Healthcare Quality (NAHQ) members are encouraged to alert administrators, allied health professionals, and the public about the impact of healthcare quality through special events during the week of October 18–24, 2009.

CPHQ Review Course—October 22–23, 2009
Don't miss the CPHQ Review Course, which will be held in Chicago October 22–23, 2009. This day-and-a-half workshop is designed to help those who are planning to take the Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ) examination. The course will follow the exam matrix and will help you focus your study efforts. Participants should come to the workshop with functional knowledge in areas identified in the CPHQ exam outline, which may be obtained at www.cphq.org.

Create activities that promote a greater understanding of the role and impact of healthcare quality professionals, adapting the messages to your organization's needs.
Use publicity, word of mouth, the National Healthcare Quality Week promotional poster, and news releases (click here for a press release template)
for internal newsletters and local media—both before and during your events—to promote National Healthcare Quality Week activities.
Obtain an official proclamation, and alert the media that your state governor, town mayor, or CEO has endorsed the observance of National Healthcare Quality Week.
Decorate your facility for National Healthcare Quality Week.
Download the 2009 HQW logo and use it on table tent cards, t-shirts, tray liners, and other items to market your events.
Start National Healthcare Quality Week with a kick-off event or an open house in your department. Serving food or distributing a give-away always brings a crowd.
Plan a National Healthcare Quality Week luncheon for the quality team, a recognition ceremony for CPHQs, a Patients' Day, educational seminars, or community outreach events.
Following Healthcare Quality Week:
Distribute news releases with photos to internal newsletters and the local media.
Post photos on a prominent bulletin board in your facility.
Send thank-you letters to all who assisted.
