MESSAGE FROM THE BOARD

SIGs: The Real Deal in a Tough Economy
"For most of us, the economy has not been particularly kind this past year. Although we have seen some signs of hope, a complete and sustained recovery seems unlikely—at least in 2010," says SIG Director Desila Rosetti, CPHQ. "Our facilities' budgets are taking a significant financial hit, which has resulted in cuts to staffing and resources. Luckily for NAHQ members, our association's member benefits far outweigh membership costs."

FDA and STERIS Corporation Put Hospitals in the Middle
"Quality professionals are involved in a variety of dynamic situations on a daily basis, but a particularly curious clash has occurred between the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and STERIS Corporation, a vendor of reprocessing equipment," writes Charlie White, MBA CPHQ, facilitator, Critical Access/Rural Special Interest Group. "This has caused significant worry and confusion within our healthcare community."
