Donnelly Appointed as NAHQ’s First Special Interest Group Director  |
Denise Donnelly, RN CPHQ, has been appointed NAHQ’s first special interest group (SIG) director. “I look forward to helping set the groundwork for SIG teams and establishing their future roles,” says Donnelly, who is quality manager of Aetna and CHIP Services in Dallas. The work includes developing forums to allow members with similar interests to network and share best practices. Donnelly has been an active member of NAHQ for nearly 30 years. She has
served as a legislative liaison, chair of the Legislative Committee,
member of the Leadership Council and Leadership Academy, and
contributor to the Journal for Healthcare Quality. She also is
active at the state and local levels and has served as president for
both the Maryland and Texas associations for healthcare quality. | |

Patient Safety Executive Fellowship
An executive fellowship in patient safety is now available through the Williamson Institute for Healthcare Leadership at the Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA. The program begins with a 4-day on-campus introduction June 25–28, 2008, and is followed by online modules taught by nationally renowned faculty. The program concludes in May 2009. Boisvert Appointed as JHQ’s Quality NETwork Coeditor
 | Susan C. Boisvert, MHSA BSN, was recently appointed Quality NETwork coeditor by the Journal for Healthcare Quality editor in chief, Joann Genovich-Richards. Boisvert is vice president for clinical services and chief nursing officer at Parkview Adventist Medical Center, Brunswick, ME. Boisvert served on the JHQ editorial board and was guest editor for JHQ’s September/October 2006 special issue on rural healthcare quality, which received an APEX Award for publication excellence in writing. Quality NETwork’s reviews of Web sites relevant to healthcare quality professionals appear in the bimonthly JHQ Web Exclusives and are searchable in the Resource Center at NAHQPlus. |
Public Release of HCAHPS Data Set for March Through February 15, 2008, hospital leaders can preview their initial HCAHPS survey data on the QualityNet Exchange Website. Adopted by the Hospital Quality Alliance, HCAHPS is the new national standard for collecting and publicly reporting information on patients’ experiences with inpatient care, and reporting is required for receiving a full payment update under the Medicare inpatient prospective payment system. HCAHPS data will be made available to the public for the first time in late March on the Hospital Compare Web site. Click here if you have questions about the public reporting of the survey results.
