MESSAGE FROM THE BOARD
Re-Membering
Our Members
If we are to remain the association of choice for healthcare
quality professionals, NAHQ realizes how important it is to
“re-member” our members. The association strives to be a
user-friendly association for members and other customers who rely
on us to be the source for education, research,
networking, and certification.

Chicago-Area
Healthcare System Takes on MRSA
In 2002, Lance Peterson, MD FIDSA FASCP, an epidemiologist at
Evanston Northwestern Healthcare (ENH) in north suburban Chicago
noticed a rise in the number of patients with methicillin-resistant
Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infections at his healthcare
system’s three area hospitals. That realization, combined with a
rise in reported MRSA infections in the Chicago area, prompted a
series of planning meetings on infection control.
INDUSTRY TRENDS
Coordinating
Care Is a Group Effort
Care coordination is one of the biggest challenges in healthcare
today. Care is fragmented, with little communication across
settings and between providers and vendors, and improving care
coordination requires commitment from all stakeholders. Several
collaborative efforts are placing this issue in the
spotlight.
