General Information

Message Boards

Message boards are usually near the registration desk. If you wish to leave a message for another attendee, go to the board and write your note, fold it, and put the person’s name on it in bold letters.

Cell Phones and Pagers

Please turn cell phones and pagers off, or if you must be available, set them to “vibrate” mode so that you do not disrupt educational sessions. Make calls at the breaks between sessions when it is convenient for you. If someone from your family or office needs to reach you in an emergency situation while you’re at the conference, have them first try contacting you in your hotel room. For matters of the utmost urgency, have them contact the association’s registration desk via the hotel operator. In addition, please be sure that the conference organizers have received an emergency contact name for you with your registration information.

First Aid

All major convention centers have a first aid station or office, and the association or convention center staff can, at any time, direct you to the one on site. The personnel at the first aid station are not affiliated with the association in any way and can only provide you with basic first aid (e.g., ice packs, a splint, acetaminophen, eye patches). Emergency medical services can be called for more serious situations.

Please be sure that the conference organizers have received an emergency contact name for you with your registration information.
