Monday, September 9, 2007 8 - 10 AM Staying Focused on Purpose in Times of Change Bertice Berry, PhD
In the wake of the many changes in healthcare funding and patient demographics and the staff shortages faced by healthcare professionals, it is often difficult to stay focused on the primary purpose of the profession. In this presentation, sociologist and author Bertice Berry will discuss the importance of purpose in times of change. One of the most sought-after lecturers in the country, Berry utilizes humor, storytelling, and the presentation of research findings to discuss how healthcare workers can be all that they were meant to be, even when the odds are against them. You’ll laugh, you’ll feel, but most important, you’ll be inspired to be all that you were made to be.
Dr. Bertice Berry earned her undergraduate degree from Jacksonville University in Florida and then went on to get a Ph.D. in Sociology from Kent State University. Dr. Berry taught sociology and statistics at Kent. After lecturing at Kent, Dr. Berry became an award-winning entertainer, lecturer and comedienne. Berry has also made several television appearances. She started her own nationally syndicated talk show, "The Bertice Berry Show." She has also appeared on "The Oprah Winfrey Show," "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," and "20/20".
