This new section will keep you up to date on our six new Special Interest Groups (SIGs). First up: SIG Team Leader Sherry Mazer, CPHQ FACHE, reports that SIG members are busy networking on the respective Listservs. NAHQ’s Resource Center, an online repository of forms, policies, and other documents shared through our SIGs, is now available on the NAHQ Web site.

LEADERSHIP SKILLS

Improving Quality Performance Through Emotional Learning
Michael E. Frisina, PhD MA, of The Frisina Group, LLC, Elgin, SC, says that the lack of substantial improvement in the safety and quality of patient care is due to our single focus on outcomes, without any regard to years of self-defeating behaviors that drive those outcomes. He says that we need to shift our attention from outcomes to performance.
