Luc R. Pelletier Healthcare Quality Award



The recipient has developed a performance improvement project, program, or initiative that has improved organizational performance and has had a direct effect on the quality of healthcare for a defined group of patients or population.  Statements regarding desired outcomes of the performance improvement project must be supported with measurable information, where possible.

  • Developed
    The applicant must have actively participated and have been intimately involved in the creation and evolution of the project, program or initiative, from its inception.

  • Performance Improvement Project, Program, or Initiative
    Any system or process used to improve outcomes. May be a new process/system or changes made to an existing process/system that has positively impacted organizational goals.

  • Direct Effect on Quality of Healthcare
    Show objective data pre and post implementation either on patient outcomes or in improved scores on performance measures that could be expected to lead to improved healthcare outcomes, or that meet or exceed evidence-based standards of care.  Examples might be broad, such as “all admissions” or might be narrow, such as “all admissions with pressure sores.”

  • Defined group of patients or population, staff, stakeholders and other customers
    The group of individuals impacted by the performance improvement project, program or initiative.  Examples might be broad, such as “all admissions” or might be narrow, such as “all admissions with pressure sores”; a population might be patients/clients, families, staff, and/or other stakeholders.
