NAHQ Recognition & Awards
Each year NAHQ presents a number of awards which strive to recognize outstanding achievements in the profession of healthcare quality. These awards are presented during the general session at the NAHQ annual conference. The Call for Award Nominations appears in the spring issue of the NAHQ E-News with the submission deadlines generally being in the late spring and summer.
Claire Glover
The Claire Glover Award recognizes a dynamic and passionate NAHQ member who has demonstrated enthusiasm for NAHQ. This member of the organization has been a member for at least ten years, and who has demonstrated the characteristics of commitment, dedication, passion, and enthusiasm that described the late Claire Glover.

Distinguished Member Award
The Distinguished Member Award celebrates an outstanding NAHQ member who has made significant contributions to the healthcare quality profession. Those contributions include service to the national and state associations, contribution to the body of knowledge, publication activities, and education leadership. The recipient of this prestigious award receives a personalized plaque.

Luc R. Pelletier Healthcare Quality Award
The recipient has developed a performance improvement project, program or initiative that has improved organizational performance and has had a direct effect on the quality of healthcare for a defined group of patients or population. Statements regarding desired outcomes of the performance improvement project must be supported with measurable information, where possible.

NAHQ Award for Association Excellence
The NAHQ Award for Association Excellence recognizes the state healthcare quality association that provides exceptional membership services and benefits. The award is intended to enhance the goals and objectives of NAHQ by promoting quality educational offerings and providing information to healthcare quality professionals through the affiliated organizations. Each state association application is assessed on the states' achievement of its established goals and objectives, the quality of its newsletter, the quality of its educational programs, and the state membership's involvement in NAHQ.

NAHQ State Association Subcategory Award
The NAHQ State Association Subcategory Awards have been created in addition to the Award for Association Excellence to allow flexibility in recognizing states that excel in one of the subcategories of the larger award. States may compete for 4 separate subcategory awards. These awards will give states the opportunity to participate in the awards process and show their strengths in a specific area when they perhaps cannot compete for the larger award for overall excellence.

JHQ Golden Pen Awards
The JHQ Golden Pen Awards recognize NAHQ members who have demonstrated excellence in writing for the Journal for Healthcare Quality. The purposes of the awards are to recruit new members for NAHQ, increase the rate of submission of manuscripts to the journal, increase the visibility and exposure of the journal in the healthcare quality profession, and provide special recognition for outstanding contributions to the journal.
